Golf: Hua Hin will be hosting the Asian Tour 2009

The Black Mountain Masters will make its debut on the Asian Tour calendar next year and big names, such as Jesper Parnevik and Johan
Edfors, have already confirmed their participation in the Hua Hin event.

The opening 500.000 USD tournament will be held from March 26th to 29th at Black Mountain Golf Club.

Finland’s Mikko Ilonen and local star Thongchai Jaidee have also confirmed their participation. ”We are also under negotiation to bring another two European tour stars to join the event,” says Harald Elisson, general manager of Black Mountain Golf Club.

The event will feature 148 leading Asian Tour professionals and eight invitees.

Recently named best new golf course in Thailand by Asian Golf Monthly, the Black Mountain layout promises an exciting challenge for golfers and a great experience for fans. ”We aim at being Asia’s best championship golf course and to get there, we are excited to host the Black Mountain Masters,”  Elission says. ”Despite the economic crisis, we will not have any problem hosting the event.” Asian Tour Executive Chairman, Kyi Hla, says the new event reflects the continuing success of Thai golfers on the international stage.

Mayor of Hua Hin, Jira Pongphaiboon, says it will be a great opportunity to promote the seaside resort to the world.
