You can see part of Bangkok’s skyline from the sea side, before we sail up the narrow canals, looking into people’s basic living rooms, built on stilts in the water. Do not be surprised when you pass the neighbor who has built a luxury villa. Many of the rich villagers are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and have moved out on the canals, where there are only a few cars. The mailman even arrives by boat. You will experience a cultural richness and an insight to the Thai way of life that you will not see many places.
After a few hours on the canals we serve a delicious lunch on the Chao Phraya River. We continue to Thailand’s main attraction, the Grand Palace. Wat Phra Kaeo and the Grand Palace are as much Bangkok, as the Eiffel Tower is Paris and the Statue of Liberty is New York.
The royal temple complex was built in the late 1700s by the first Thai monarch, King Rama I, based in Bangkok. Around the stunning golden spires Bangkok has grown, taken shape and spread like wildfire. It is here on the artificial island Ratchadamnoen, the cultural center of the city is located. From an urban perspective, it may seem small, but it is believed that a great power is flowing from here, protecting all of Thailand.
Thailand’s largest temple complex, Wat Po, is located south of Wat Phra Kaeo. It is an exciting and overwhelming place filled with history, meditation. It is a very lively place. The area consists of a independent temple city of monk houses, religious buildings and hundreds of Buddha statues. The most famous statue is the resting golden Buddha, which measures 46 meters in length and 15 meters in height.
After a day with rich experiences you will be taken back to your hotel. The trip lasts approximately six hours but just like the pickup time, it can be adjusted individually.
